The Independent Education office is designed to provide a safe, calm, and stable environment where motivated students can work effectively with little interruption. As a professional office, we expect a high standard of behavior from our students. Casual conversation is kept to a minimum so that students can maximize productivity during scheduled study times. Students work on computers at individual workstations equipped with their own printers in order to provide each client their own study space. Internet use is monitored and limited to academic and employment related content. Music conducive to concentration is played throughout the office, and we do not allow the use of personal music players such as I-pods or cell phones.
Students work independently of one another on curriculums designed to meet their individual needs. Assistance is provided as needed with complex concepts which students cannot grasp on their own. Respect for self and others are expected and mandatory. Our office is a drug-free environment and adolescents who are actively using alcohol and drugs are not admitted. Current students who become involved in these activities in or out of the office will be dismissed. Adolescent students are not allowed to date one another as this becomes a distraction to the completion of schoolwork. We are a professional office and the students’ job is the completion of their schoolwork.
The Independent Education atmosphere is ideal for students who want to shorten their school days and possibly school years. Focused students can complete a great deal of coursework in a short period of time. Students will typically study between three and four hours per day, leaving ample time throughout the rest of their schedules for part-time work, athletics, family life and socialization. Disciplined students should find great freedom within this academic framework.
